Rift - Chaotic and Frenzied Fun

Hello guys, and welcome to my blog dedicated to Rift.

Some of my friends have asked me why I wanted to play rift. I already had wow, multiple max level characters and doing well in progression. My answer to them was "Cataclysm feels stale." That is the truth, to me at least. Looking back over my six year playtime of World of Warcraft, my best memories were in late vanilla and early-mid BC. My friends may be correct in speculating it was due to my main being a warlock, and that was easily the best time to play one. However, while part of that reasoning is true, the fact is I just don't find the world as interesting as I once did. I had been a hardcore roleplayer throughout my time, and after a while I quickly began to realize that the lore of the game was just boring. Nothing new or exciting about the characters or races, in fact it was pretty cut and dry fantasy. It doesn't have the epic feel that Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth bookseries  has (especially the first two books), or even Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

Rift, on the other hand, has a very unique story. Well, okay I take that back. The invasion thing isn't exactly crazy-awesome, nor is the defiant's "we're from the future to save the planet" all that groundbreaking. However, just in the way it is put together you can tell a lot of love and respect has been poured into the lore of the game.

Not only is the story entertaining, but the gameplay is similar enough to wow where i don't feel lost, but its also refreshing and "new" enough to keep me working and bettering myself. The talent system is amazingly flexible, at least for now until people min-max the living hell out of it.

So there you have it. Those are my reasons (possibly excuses) for playing rift.
